"The fact that I still struggle means deliverance didn't work or wasn't real."
How it sounds in your head: Someone prayed for me and I felt better for a while, but now the feelings are back. It must not have worked. Maybe I'm too far gone for even prayer to help.
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
-- Ephesians 6:12Source: Expecting deliverance to work like magic formula instead of understanding ongoing spiritual warfare and identity in Christ.
He felt temporary relief but ongoing battle makes him question if anything changed. Religion taught him deliverance should be permanent freedom from all struggle.
Paul had a messenger of Satan buffeting him repeatedly. He asked God three times to remove it. God said 'My grace is sufficient'—ongoing warfare didn't mean Paul wasn't delivered; it meant he was worth attacking.
I REFUSE the lie that ongoing battle means deliverance failed. IT IS WRITTEN that we wrestle against spiritual forces—wrestling is ONGOING. I am not un-delivered—I am in a FIGHT, and the fact that I'm fighting proves I'm FREE. IT IS WRITTEN that I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me. Even Jesus faced repeated attacks. I am not defeated—I am DANGEROUS to darkness. The battle proves my freedom, not my bondage. I fight from VICTORY, not for victory.
The Father doesn't see your ongoing battle and think you failed—He sees His warrior son actively wielding authority. He's running toward you saying 'You're winning, and I'm fighting with you.'
