"The enemy is winning because I feel spiritually numb and can't sense God's presence anymore."
How it sounds in your head: I used to feel God during worship, sense Him in prayer, get emotional reading Scripture. Now it's all flat. Nothing. I'm going through the motions feeling nothing. If I can't feel God but I can feel the oppression, Satan must be winning the battle for my spiritual life.
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
-- Deuteronomy 31:6Source: Religion teaching that God's presence is measured by emotional experience rather than covenant reality, making feelings the barometer of spiritual reality.
The emotional highs were real and tangible—tears during worship, peace during prayer, excitement reading the Word. When those feelings vanish but the struggle remains, it's natural to interpret numbness as abandonment and evidence of enemy victory.
After massive victory, Elijah crashed into suicidal depression—wanted to die, felt utterly alone, emotionally numb. God didn't lecture him about faith—He fed him, let him sleep, and sent an angel. Immediate care for the numb prophet.
I REFUSE the lie that feeling numb means the enemy is winning. IT IS WRITTEN that God will NOT leave me nor forsake me—His presence isn't dependent on my emotional capacity to register it. I am not abandoned; my feelings are just temporarily offline. IT IS WRITTEN that I walk by faith, not by sight or feelings—the reality of His presence doesn't fluctuate with my emotional state. The numbness is not defeat; it's a season where I learn to trust the WORD over what I feel. The BARAK blessing protected the patriarchs in seasons of silence just as powerfully as seasons of manifestation.
The Father isn't distant because you feel numb—He's holding you through a season where emotions need rest and faith muscles need building. He's not disappointed in your flatness; He's sustaining you through it while your heart heals.
