"The betrayal happened because you're not valuable enough for people to stay loyal to you."
How it sounds in your head: If you were worth it, they wouldn't have betrayed you. Your dad left because you weren't enough to stay for. Your wife strayed because you weren't man enough to keep her attention. Your friend chose money because your friendship wasn't valuable enough. The betrayal is the report card on your worth.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Orphan spirit lie that interprets others' sin as verdict on your value, directly opposing sonship identity that's secured by Father's love alone.
Betrayal feels personal because relationships are personal. The equation 'if I was valuable, they'd have stayed' appears logical but is spiritually backwards.
Joseph's own brothers stripped him, threw him in a pit, sold him as a slave, and lied to their father that he was dead—betrayed by his family because they hated how their father loved him. Yet Joseph was always the valuable one—Potiphar's house was blessed because of him, the prison was blessed because of him, Egypt was saved because of him. The betrayal wasn't a verdict on Joseph's value; it was envy of his OBVIOUS value.
I REFUSE the lie that betrayal is a report card on my worth. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me—my value is established by the CROSS, not by human loyalty. The Father is declaring RIGHT NOW that I am His beloved son in whom He is well pleased, regardless of who stays or goes. Joseph was BETRAYED because of his value, not despite it—his brothers' envy revealed his worth, not diminished it. I am ABRAHAM'S SEED under the BARAK blessing—blessed with the favor that made Isaac so wealthy kings asked him to leave, blessed with the presence that caused Potiphar's entire house to prosper. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—my value is INTRINSIC, given by the Father, demonstrated by the cross, and unaffected by human betrayal.
The Father is running toward you with the robe, ring, and sandals, shouting: 'You're MY son—your value isn't determined by who left but by who's STAYING: ME. I'm throwing a party because you're THAT valuable, and I'm about to show you through restoration that makes betrayers look foolish for abandoning treasure.'
