"The abortion I pressured my girlfriend to have forty years ago is unforgivable"
How it sounds in your head: You drove her to the clinic. You paid for it. You convinced her it was the 'smart choice.' That child would be in their forties now. You took a life to protect your reputation, your career, your comfortable path. Some sins are just too big.
"Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
-- Isaiah 1:18Religious teaching that abortion is the unforgivable sin, combined with male guilt for pressuring women into it for selfish reasons
The permanence of death makes this feel uniquely irreversible—every other sin can be undone or apologized for, but you can't bring back the dead. The life that never was haunts you with 'what if' scenarios that have decades of detail by now.
Paul didn't just disagree with Christians—he MURDERED them, holding coats while Stephen was stoned and dragging families from homes to imprisonment and death (Acts 8:3). Yet one encounter with Jesus INSTANTLY transformed him into the greatest apostle, author of most of the New Testament, with ZERO probation period.
I REFUSE the lie that the abortion I pressured is unforgivable. IT IS WRITTEN that though my sins are scarlet, they shall be WHITE AS SNOW. The blood of Jesus is not limited by categories—it doesn't cover theft but fail on abortion. Paul MURDERED believers and became the chief apostle with zero waiting period. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. My sin—however scarlet—is washed white by blood that is stronger than death itself. I will see that child in heaven not as my victim but as my redeemed family, because the same blood that covers me covers them. The BARAK blessing flows not because I was innocent but because covenant blood makes me righteous. I am forgiven, cleansed, restored—COMPLETELY.
The Father isn't holding that child's death against you—He's already welcomed them into His arms and is waiting to reconcile you with them in eternity. Like the prodigal covered in pig-pen filth, you're not getting condemnation but the robe of righteousness—God doesn't grade sins on a scale where some are too big; the cross was infinite enough for ALL.
