"Stroke survivor is my label—the damage defines me more than anything I ever built."
How it sounds in your head: Slurred speech, dragging leg—everyone sees the damage first. A lifetime of work erased by one moment. This limitation is what they'll remember, not the decades before.
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases."
-- Psalm 103:2-3Enemy magnifies one moment of damage to eclipse lifetime of identity, contradicting God's promise to restore.
Visible physical changes are undeniable and affect every interaction. Dependence on others reverses decades of being the provider and protector.
Jacob wrestled God all night and his hip was permanently damaged—he LIMPED the rest of his life. But God didn't call him 'the limping one'—He changed his name to ISRAEL (Prince with God), and the limp became irrelevant to his destiny.
I REFUSE the lie that stroke damage is my defining label. IT IS WRITTEN that God heals ALL diseases and forgets not ALL His benefits—this includes restoration of what the stroke tried to steal. Jacob limped but was renamed ISRAEL; his damage didn't define his destiny. I am covered by the BARAK blessing that promises 'the Lord will command the blessing on you'—not based on my speech clarity or gait, but based on COVENANT. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and no neurological event can rewrite that. This damage is temporary; my identity as His son is ETERNAL. What the enemy meant for destruction, God uses for GLORY.
The Father doesn't see you as 'stroke survivor'—He sees you as the son He's been running toward, the one He prepared the party for. The prodigal came home limping from the pig pen; the Father didn't focus on the limp—He focused on the REUNION and threw a celebration.
