"Spiritual warfare is for mature Christians, not someone still struggling with sin."
How it sounds in your head: I looked at porn again last week. I lost my temper yesterday. How can I take authority over demons when I can't even control my own flesh? Maybe once I get my act together, then I can step into spiritual warfare.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:21Source: Religion teaching that spiritual authority requires sinless perfection rather than being granted through Christ's righteousness.
He feels like a hypocrite commanding demons while simultaneously battling his own sin patterns. The logic seems sound: clean up your own house before trying to clean up the spiritual realm.
Jesus gave Peter the keys of the kingdom—binding and loosing authority—immediately after his great confession. This same Peter would deny Jesus three times, curse and swear he never knew Him. Yet Jesus STILL restored him and Peter walked in miracle-working power. Authority wasn't revoked because of failure.
I REFUSE the lie that my sin disqualifies my authority. IT IS WRITTEN that I AM the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus—not when I'm perfect, but RIGHT NOW. Jesus made me righteous as a GIFT, not an achievement. There is NO CONDEMNATION for me because I am in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, in the city and in the field—that's the BARAK blessing purchased by the cross. The same blessing that protected Abraham when he lied protects me, and I'm in a BETTER covenant through Jesus' blood. I command every lying spirit of disqualification to GO in Jesus' name. I stand in full authority TODAY.
The Father didn't wait for the prodigal to clean up before running to him—He embraced him while he still smelled like pigs. Your authority is based on Jesus' perfection, not yours, which means it NEVER fluctuates based on your performance.
