"Speaking about wanting children is presumptuous - you have to wait and see God's plan."
How it sounds in your head: Adults say 'if it's God's will' about everything related to babies. Maybe wanting children and declaring it is getting ahead of God. Shouldn't I just submit to whatever happens and not voice desires? Declaring seems prideful.
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."
-- Mark 11:24Religion teaching passivity as humility, making faith declarations seem arrogant instead of biblical agreement with God's promises.
Every prayer at church includes 'if it be Your will' which sounds humble and safe. He's been taught not to 'name and claim' things, that wanting specific outcomes is selfish or presumptuous.
Hannah was barren and WEPT BITTERLY before the Lord, voicing her desperate desire for a son so intensely the priest thought she was drunk. God gave her Samuel that year - her bold declaration was REWARDED.
I REFUSE the lie that declaring God's promises is presumptuous! IT IS WRITTEN in Mark 11:24 to believe I receive what I ask for - that's not arrogance, that's OBEDIENCE. Hannah wept and begged God for a child (1 Samuel 1:10) and got Samuel - her passionate declaration pleased God, not offended Him. The BARAK blessing COMMANDS fruitfulness on Abraham's seed (Genesis 1:28, Galatians 3:29) - which means I'm AGREEING with God's stated will when I declare children over my family! IT IS WRITTEN in Hebrews 11:6 that God REWARDS those who diligently seek Him - passive waiting isn't faith, confident asking is! I'm not getting ahead of God - I'm standing ON His written promises and calling them into being!
The Father isn't waiting for you to passively submit - He's INVITING you to boldly approach His throne (Hebrews 4:16) with specific requests. He's running toward you with YES already on His lips, celebrating your faith to ask, robe extended before you finish speaking.
