"Sleep medication is the only thing that works, which means God's healing failed."
How it sounds in your head: I prayed for sleep and nothing happened, so I have to take medication. That must mean God didn't heal me or my faith isn't strong enough.
"Jesus answered and said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.'"
-- Luke 5:31-32Religious teaching that using medication equals lack of faith or God's failure to show up.
She's been taught that 'real faith' doesn't need medical help, and taking sleep aids feels like admitting defeat spiritually. Others have implied she should 'just trust God more.'
Hezekiah was dying, prayed for healing, and God said 'I WILL heal you.' Then the prophet brought a LUMP OF FIGS and applied it as medicine. God promised healing AND provided natural means—both/and, not either/or.
I REFUSE the lie that medication means God's healing failed. IT IS WRITTEN that those who are sick need a physician, and Jesus didn't condemn that—He acknowledged it. God can heal through supernatural means, through medicine, through BOTH simultaneously. Using wisdom doesn't cancel faith. IT IS WRITTEN in James 1:17 that EVERY good gift comes from above—including medical knowledge and sleep aids. I am healed by His stripes whether that manifests instantly or progressively. I am under the barak blessing regardless of the method.
Father doesn't withhold healing because you swallowed a pill—He's not that petty or religious. He ran to the prodigal without demanding he prove faith first; He runs to you with or without medication.
