"My brain won't turn off at night. I'll never sleep peacefully like other girls."
How it sounds in your head: While my friends talk about sleepovers and staying up late for fun, I'm exhausted but can't sleep. My mind races with what kids said at school, whether I looked stupid today, if I'm pretty enough. Even when I'm tired, sleep won't come.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2Enemy-planted anxiety disguised as personality trait, magnified by social comparison and early exposure to performance pressure.
She literally lies awake for hours, body exhausted but mind spinning through social scenarios, body changes, and everyone else's opinions. The racing thoughts feel completely beyond her control, like her brain is broken differently than other kids.
Elijah was suicidal, running from Jezebel, convinced he failed God and should die. God's response? An angel touched him and said 'Arise and eat'—then he SLEPT, ate again, slept AGAIN, and was strengthened for 40 days on that supernatural rest.
I REFUSE the lie that my mind controls me. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives His beloved sleep, and I am beloved—not because I'm perfect, but because I'm His. My identity is daughter, not anxious girl. The Barak blessing over Abraham's seed includes REST—they rested in their tents while enemies fled. I am Abraham's seed through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 4:8, 'I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.' Peace isn't something I create—it's something I receive. My Father runs toward me with rest in His hands, not a checklist of sleep hygiene tips.
Your Father sees you lying there with racing thoughts and He isn't waiting for you to calm yourself down first—He's already singing over you, 'He will quiet you with His love' (Zephaniah 3:17). Sleep is part of your inheritance, purchased by Jesus, given freely to beloved daughters who don't have to earn tomorrow's approval tonight.
