"She's still sharp and capable while my mind is failing me."
How it sounds in your head: You see women your age still reading, remembering, engaging in conversations, while you forget names, lose your train of thought, fear every memory lapse is the beginning of dementia. Your sharpest tool—your mind—feels like it's betraying you.
"And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."
-- Isaiah 46:4Enemy's terror campaign using normal aging and fear of cognitive decline to steal present peace and convince you your identity is dissolving.
Memory lapses are REAL, and comparing yourself to sharper peers makes every forgotten word feel like evidence of decline. The cultural terror around dementia makes every normal aging moment feel like a diagnosis.
Zechariah was old, struck mute for unbelief, unable to speak for nine months. God didn't wait for him to get it together—at the naming ceremony, God INSTANTLY restored his voice, filled him with the Holy Spirit, and he prophesied the most beautiful prophecy in Scripture (Benedictus).
I REFUSE the lie that cognitive changes diminish my identity or that my mind's sharpness determines God's presence. IT IS WRITTEN that even to my OLD AGE He is God, even to GRAY HAIRS He will CARRY me—four carry promises with ZERO conditions. I am a DAUGHTER OF ABRAHAM under the BARAK blessing that protected even when people made catastrophic mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN that God completes what He began in me. Like Zechariah struck speechless yet still used prophetically, my Father holds my identity secure even if my memory shifts. He carries me; He does not drop me when my mind changes.
The Father isn't measuring your cognitive sharpness before He decides to keep you—He's CARRYING you, declaring HIMSELF responsible for bearing you through every stage. Like Zechariah mute yet still chosen for prophecy, your identity is secure in HIS grip, not your mental capacity.
