"Rich people should tithe, but broke people need to keep what little they have"
How it sounds in your head: Tithing makes sense when you're wealthy and 10% doesn't hurt. But when you barely have anything, that 10% is huge and you need every dollar. God understands - He wouldn't expect broke people to give like rich people.
"The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you."
-- Deuteronomy 28:8Source: Worldly class-based economics, enemy exempting the poor from blessing to keep them poor
It feels logical and even compassionate - rich people have extra, poor people don't. Requiring the same percentage from both seems unfair when $10 matters way more to someone with $100 than to someone with $10,000.
They were in 'extreme poverty' and 'great trial of affliction,' yet gave 'beyond their own ability' with 'pleading' to be allowed to participate in giving. Their poverty didn't disqualify them - it positioned them for INSTANT abundance of joy that exceeded their circumstances, proving God's grace sufficient in lack.
I REFUSE the lie that tithing is for rich people only! IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord COMMANDS blessing on my storehouses - even empty ones get filled when I obey. The Macedonian churches were in EXTREME POVERTY yet gave beyond ability with JOY - their lack wasn't exemption, it was opportunity for God to prove Himself. The widow gave 2 cents and Jesus celebrated her above millionaires. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing isn't income-restricted. IT IS WRITTEN He will bless me in ALL I set my hand to - being broke doesn't disqualify me, it positions me to see MIRACLE multiplication. I'm not too poor to give - I'm perfectly positioned to see windows of heaven OPEN!
The Father doesn't exempt the poor from giving - He invites them into the SAME blessing the wealthy receive, proving He's their source regardless of current bank balance. Your poverty isn't disqualification; it's setup for demonstration of His ability to provide beyond natural means, to open windows when there's no logical source.
