"Rich people can't enter heaven, so pursuing wealth puts my soul at risk."
How it sounds in your head: I've heard 'easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle' my whole life. Every financial goal feels like I'm choosing money over God. Like there's a cap on how much I can have before I'm disqualified from heaven.
"But Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"
-- Matthew 19:26Misinterpretation of Matthew 19:24 that ignores verse 26 where Jesus says 'with God all things are possible.'
The rich young ruler walked away sad, and every sermon uses him as a cautionary tale about wealth. You've internalized that money and heaven are incompatible, so ambition feels like apostasy.
Job ended with TWICE the wealth he started with, and God Himself restored it. The same God who called Job blameless and upright also made him the richest man in the East—twice. Righteousness and riches aren't enemies.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth puts my soul at risk. IT IS WRITTEN that with God all things are possible—including being both righteous and financially blessed. The rich young ruler's problem was trust, not treasure, and I don't trust in riches; I trust in Jesus who became poor so I could be rich. IT IS WRITTEN that the blessing of Abraham is mine, and Abraham was very wealthy in silver, gold, and livestock while being called God's friend. The BARAK blesses my storehouses, and my security is in Christ, not my bank account. I can steward wealth with a free heart because my identity is SEALED.
Your Father isn't threatened by your financial success—He designed it. He doesn't see your bank account as competition for your heart because He already has your heart, and from that secure place, He's pouring out blessing without fear that it will corrupt you because you're a NEW creation.
