"Rich people can't enter heaven, so pursuing financial success endangers my soul and relationship with God."
How it sounds in your head: You're thinking about majors, careers, income potential—then Matthew 19:24 hits: 'Easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.' Now every financial goal feels like a threat to your salvation. 'Maybe I should just work minimum wage jobs to stay humble and safe.'
"But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.'"
-- Mark 10:27Source: Religion ripping Matthew 19:24 out of context, ignoring that Jesus was addressing those who TRUST IN riches, not those who HAVE riches.
The verse sounds absolute—'rich man can't enter heaven'—and preachers use it to guilt anyone with financial ambition. Nobody explains the next verse where Jesus says 'with God all things are possible,' making you think wealth = spiritual death.
Solomon asked for wisdom, and God said, 'Because you didn't ask for riches, I'm giving you riches AND wisdom—more wealth than any king before or after.' God ADDED wealth because Solomon's heart was right, proving God loves giving wealth to those who seek Him first.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth endangers my soul or that God is threatened by my financial success. IT IS WRITTEN: 'With God all things are possible'—including being both wealthy AND righteous. Jesus addressed those who TRUST IN riches, not those who have them while trusting GOD. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:18—'God gives me POWER to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant.' The BARAK blessing includes financial abundance, and I receive it without fear because my trust is in HIM, not the money. I am blessed in my career, my income, and my future because I am Abraham's seed. Wealth in MY hands is a tool for the kingdom, and my Father delights in prospering me.
Your Father isn't sitting in heaven worried that blessing you financially will ruin you—He's the one who GAVE you the ability to create wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). While religion makes you choose between God and money, your Father is preparing to give you BOTH because with Him, all things are possible.
