"Rich people are greedy and selfish, so getting wealthy would make me a bad person."
How it sounds in your head: Every rich person I see seems fake or arrogant. I don't want to become like that. Maybe staying middle-class keeps me real and kind.
"And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
-- Deuteronomy 8:18Cultural narrative that demonizes wealth and creates false dichotomy between money and character.
He sees wealthy influencers flaunting possessions and hears stories of corrupt businessmen. It's easier to believe poverty equals purity than to separate wealth from character issues.
Joseph was 'a rich man' and a disciple of Jesus who used his wealth to provide Jesus's tomb. His money served the Kingdom instead of corrupting him - wealth in righteous hands accomplishes righteous purposes.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth automatically corrupts or that rich people are inherently selfish. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:18 that God GIVES power to get wealth to establish His covenant. Money doesn't change character - it reveals and amplifies what's already there. I am a branch connected to the Vine, and whatever flows through me reflects His nature, not a dollar amount. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:12 that under the BARAK I will lend to many nations and not borrow. Wealth in my hands builds the Kingdom, funds the gospel, and reveals the Father's abundant generosity. My character is rooted in Christ, not my bank account.
Your Father trusts you with wealth because you're connected to Him. He's not afraid money will corrupt you - He's excited to watch you steward resources with His heart of generosity flowing through you.
