"Retirement means I'll finally have time to do what God wants, but I'll be too broke to obey."

How it sounds in your head: You've always said 'when I retire, I'll finally have time for ministry, missions, serving.' But now retirement is here or near, and you realize you won't have the money to do those things. You'll have time but no resources. You feel trapped—finally available but financially disqualified from obedience.

Psalm 84:11

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."

-- Psalm 84:11
Enemy whispers: 'You'll have time but no money. God's calling you to things you can't afford. You're disqualified by poverty.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 84:11—'No GOOD thing will He WITHHOLD from those who walk uprightly.' If He's calling you to it, He's funding it. God doesn't call and then abandon. When He sent the disciples out, He provided through others. When He called Abraham, He prospered him. Your calling isn't self-funded—it's Father-funded.
Quick Truth: LIE: I can't afford to obey. TRUTH: God withholds no good thing from the upright—He funds what He orders. (Ps 84:11)

Religious lie that obedience to God requires personal funding and that He calls you to things without providing the means—making God's will dependent on your wallet.

Why this feels true:

Missions trips cost money. Ministry requires resources. You'll have more time but less income. The practical reality is you can't afford to do what you feel called to do.

Acts 8:26-39
Philip and the Ethiopian

Philip was told 'Go to this desert road.' No funding, no plan, no explanation. He obeyed, God arranged the divine appointment with the Ethiopian official, and the man was saved and baptized. Obedience came first; provision and purpose appeared supernaturally.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I'll have time for God's work but lack the resources to obey. IT IS WRITTEN that no good thing will God withhold from those who walk uprightly—if He's calling me, He's funding me. My obedience isn't limited by my retirement income. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that God gives me ABUNDANCE for EVERY good work. He funds what He orders. Philip had no ministry budget but God arranged divine appointments. Paul made tents while preaching. God's assignments come with God's provision. I am blessed, and blessing flows where I go. My latter years will be the most fruitful because I'm walking in grace, not striving.

But God actually:

The Father isn't calling you to retirement ministry and then shrugging about funding—He's about to show you that He supplies for His purposes in ways that don't depend on your paycheck. You're not too broke to obey; you're positioned to see His miraculous supply.
