"Religion is the problem—organized church is just a man-made system of control."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus was against religion, right? He hung out with sinners and rebuked religious leaders. The institution of church is just rules, politics, and power—nothing like what Jesus actually did. I'll follow Jesus without all that baggage.
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."
-- Ephesians 5:25-27Source: Conflating toxic religious SYSTEMS with the Spirit-led EKKLESIA Jesus actually designed, throwing out the baby with the bathwater after legitimate religious abuse.
You've seen churches operate more like corporations than families, leaders accumulate power like CEOs, and rules enforced that have nothing to do with Scripture. Jesus DID rebuke religious leaders, so this feels biblically sound.
Paul was the ultimate religious enforcer, murdering Christians in the name of organized religion. Jesus knocked him off his horse, blinded him, and within THREE DAYS he was preaching in synagogues—instant transformation from religious terrorist to passionate church planter who wrote most of the New Testament.
I REFUSE the lie that the church is just a corrupt man-made system. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her—He's not coming back for a philosophy but for a BRIDE. Jesus rebuked RELIGION, but He died for the CHURCH. Toxic systems are not what He designed. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said, 'I will build MY church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail.' I am PART of that Bride, that glorious church without spot or wrinkle. I carry the BARAK blessing—I am the head and not the tail. God is revealing His TRUE ekklesia to me—family, not institution; freedom, not control.
The Father is running toward you saying, 'Don't let broken systems rob you of My beautiful Bride—she's flawed but loved, messy but Mine.' He's whispering that there's a difference between religion that killed His Son and the church His Son is RETURNING for, and He's leading you to the latter.
