"Real men figure out money on their own without asking God for help."
How it sounds in your head: Dad never talks about praying for provision - he just works harder. Asking God for money feels weak. Men are supposed to be providers, not beggars. I need to man up and handle this myself.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5Source: Toxic masculinity mixed with religious performance - making self-sufficiency the measure of manhood instead of covenant relationship.
Every male role model he sees equates strength with independence. Vulnerability feels like failure of masculinity.
God offered him anything. Solomon could have asked for wealth and power to 'prove himself' as king. Instead he asked for WISDOM, acknowledging his need for help - and God gave him wisdom PLUS riches and honor beyond measure because he didn't pretend self-sufficiency.
I REFUSE the lie that real men don't need God for provision. IT IS WRITTEN that without Him I can do NOTHING - dependence on God is not weakness but wisdom. David asked God for everything. Solomon acknowledged his need and received abundance beyond measure. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a BRANCH, not a factory - my job is to ABIDE in the Vine and fruit comes naturally. The blessing of Abraham is on me, and that includes provision that flows from CONNECTION, not grinding. True masculinity is resting in covenant, not striving in independence. I trust the Lord with ALL my heart and lean not on my own understanding.
Father isn't waiting for you to prove your manhood through self-sufficiency. He's running toward you with abundance, eager to provide for His son, because a real father LOVES providing for his kids and real sonship is receiving with gratitude, not earning through independence.
