"Real intimacy and deep friendship just isn't going to happen for me."
How it sounds in your head: You see it in movies, hear about it in songs, watch it happen for other people—that soul-level connection where someone just gets you. But for you? Surface-level is probably the best it's going to get. Maybe you're not built for deep.
"A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
-- Proverbs 18:24Enemy strategy using past shallow connections to make you believe depth isn't available to you.
You've had friendships, but they stay at a certain level and never go deeper. You've tried being vulnerable and gotten polite responses instead of reciprocal depth. Maybe you're just meant to have shallow connections.
After one conversation, Jonathan's soul was knit to David's—immediate, deep, covenant friendship that nothing could break. Not political pressure, not family conflict, not death. One encounter, lifetime bond.
I REFUSE the lie that real intimacy isn't available to me. IT IS WRITTEN that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and Jesus Himself calls me FRIEND. I am NOT limited to surface connections; I have ACCESS to the depth of Heaven's intimacy right now. IT IS WRITTEN that I am no longer a servant but a friend, because Jesus has made known to me everything. The BARAK blessing draws covenant relationships to me—friendships that don't break under pressure. I don't manufacture depth through striving; I'm connected to the Vine, and soul-level connection flows from that.
Your Father isn't offering you acquaintanceship while everyone else gets best friends. He's offering you the intimacy He has with the Son—and modeling through Himself what He's bringing through others. The depth you're craving is already yours in Him.
