"Real forgiveness means absorbing all financial loss without pursuing restitution or boundaries."
How it sounds in your head: Christians forgive. If I pursue legal protection or hold him accountable, I'm bitter and unforgiving. I should just lose everything quietly and trust God.
"I also, with my brethren and my servants, am lending them money and grain. Please, let us stop this usury! Restore now to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also a hundredth of the money and the grain, the new wine and the oil, that you have charged them."
-- Nehemiah 5:10-11Religious distortion making forgiveness mean enabling continued harm, confusing grace with lack of wisdom or boundaries.
Church teaching says forgive 70x7, turn other cheek, don't take believers to court. Seeking financial protection feels unspiritual and vindictive.
Nehemiah discovered leaders were exploiting people financially. He demanded IMMEDIATE FULL RESTORATION of lands, vineyards, houses, plus return of interest. They restored EVERYTHING that same day - restitution was righteous and swift.
I REFUSE the lie that forgiveness means absorbing loss without wisdom. IT IS WRITTEN that Nehemiah demanded FULL RESTORATION and got it IMMEDIATELY - pursuing restitution while walking with God. Forgiveness releases MY bitterness, not consequences or boundaries. IT IS WRITTEN to be wise as serpents. Paul used LEGAL RIGHTS to appeal to Caesar. The BARAK blessing includes WISDOM to protect provision. I forgive from my heart AND steward wisely what God provides. Boundaries are BIBLICAL. Protection is WISDOM. I am FREE from bitterness AND wise in action.
The Father isn't asking you to be a doormat in the name of forgiveness. He's the God who PLAGUED Pharaoh while delivering Israel - protection and deliverance are His NATURE, and wisdom uses available means.
