"Pursuing my dreams is selfish when the world is suffering and Jesus is coming"
How it sounds in your head: People are dying, going to hell, and suffering, and I'm over here thinking about my little business or creative project? That's so selfish. I should be sacrificing for others, not chasing personal fulfillment. Dreams are just ego.
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Source: Religious guilt that equates sacrifice with suffering and makes personal flourishing seem selfish, contradicting God's abundant heart.
Missions organizations and guilt-driven sermons make personal success feel sinful compared to sacrificial ministry, especially for women conditioned to put everyone else first.
God was PLEASED that Solomon asked for wisdom instead of wealth, so He gave him BOTH—wisdom AND riches, honor, and long life. God didn't rebuke him for receiving abundance; He multiplied it because Solomon's heart was right, proving God loves to give EXCEEDING what we ask.
I REFUSE the lie that my dreams are selfish. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me the desires of my heart when I delight in Him—He PLANTED those desires. I am not choosing between God's will and my dreams; my dreams ARE His will. IT IS WRITTEN that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed so I CAN bless others—my overflow is someone else's miracle. I am Solomon-anointed to receive abundance that funds Kingdom impact.
Your Father didn't give you dreams just to torture you with guilt for having them—He delights in fulfilling them, and your success becomes the platform for His glory. Like the Father who gave the prodigal the ring and robe, not crumbs, He wants you FULLY restored to your identity and purpose, not shrunk into false humility.
