"Prosperity preachers are all scammers. Real Christians embrace modest living."
How it sounds in your head: Anyone teaching about money is suspicious. Truly spiritual people are broke or middle-class. If I want to be wealthy, I'm being worldly and falling for false teaching.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religious poverty spirit disguised as humility, making Jesus poorer than He was.
Some televangelists ARE scammers, and everyone mocks prosperity teaching. Associating wealth with spirituality feels embarrassing and theologically shaky.
After his trial, the Lord restored Job's losses and gave him TWICE as much as he had before - 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys. God Himself made Job WEALTHY, and Scripture calls him the greatest man of the East.
I REFUSE the lie that desiring prosperity makes me a greedy heretic. IT IS WRITTEN that God Himself prays I prosper in ALL THINGS. I am not embracing scammers; I'm embracing SCRIPTURE. The BARAK blessing on Abraham included livestock, silver, gold, and servants - God LIKES blessing His kids with abundance. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me richly all things to ENJOY, not to feel guilty about. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and the righteous receive the wealth stored up by sinners.
Your Father isn't nervous about your bank account growing. He's the one who COMMANDED blessing on your storehouses and made you the head, not the tail - those aren't metaphors for being spiritually rich but financially broke.
