"Prayer doesn't work; I've prayed and seen no results, so why keep believing?"
How it sounds in your head: You've prayed for years about major things—health, marriage, career—and got silence. Other people claim miracles, but you got nothing. Maybe they're deluded or lying, or maybe God doesn't actually intervene. Either way, prayer feels like talking to the ceiling.
"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."
-- Psalm 34:17Measuring God's reality by immediate visible results rather than relationship, plus vending machine theology.
You've genuinely prayed in faith and seen no change in circumstances. Watching others celebrate 'answered prayer' for parking spots while your desperate pleas about serious matters go unanswered feels like cosmic injustice.
Paul prayed three times for God to remove his 'thorn in the flesh' and received no healing—instead, God said 'My grace is sufficient.' The greatest apostle experienced unanswered prayer, and God used it to teach him dependence and display power through weakness.
I REFUSE the lie that unanswered prayer proves God doesn't hear. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous cry out and the Lord HEARS—hearing is the promise, not granting every request. I acknowledge my disappointment is real and my confusion is valid, but God's silence is not absence. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus prayed for the cup to pass and was crucified anyway, yet through that 'no' came resurrection and my salvation. I declare that prayer is relationship, not a vending machine, and God's 'wait' or 'no' may be protecting me from what I can't see. The Father hears every word and collects every tear in His bottle.
The Father has heard every desperate prayer you've whispered and cried and screamed. He's not ignoring you—He's working in ways you can't see yet, and His delays are not denials. Sometimes He's protecting you from your own requests.
