"Poor people are more spiritual—wealth would corrupt me or make me worldly."
How it sounds in your head: You've heard it preached for decades: rich man, camel, eye of needle. The 'prosperity gospel' is labeled heresy. You've worn poverty like a badge of humility, believing God prefers you broke. Wanting financial freedom feels greedy, unspiritual, even dangerous.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: religious poverty gospel that twists Scripture, making Jesus' sacrifice insufficient and repackaging lack as holiness.
Church culture has celebrated missionaries in poverty while side-eyeing wealthy believers. You've seen televangelists' scandals and equated money with compromise. Decades of teaching have made you suspicious of blessing.
Job lost everything, argued with God, didn't understand his suffering, yet God restored him with DOUBLE—14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys. Instant wealth multiplication for a man who questioned God, proving blessing isn't earned by perfect theology.
I REFUSE the lie that poverty equals spirituality. IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 1:2 that God desires I prosper in ALL THINGS. Abraham was very rich and God's friend—not in spite of wealth but blessed BY God with wealth. The BARAK blessing includes material prosperity, not just spiritual platitudes. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:11 that the Lord grants abundant prosperity. Religion made me suspicious of blessing; the Father wants me blessed to BE a blessing. I receive wealth without corruption TODAY because I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
The Father isn't testing your humility by keeping you poor—Jesus became poor so you could be rich (2 Cor 8:9). While religion told you to prove your spirituality through lack, the Father was preparing abundance because He loves giving good gifts to His children, and wealth in the hands of the righteous advances His kingdom, not hinders it.
