"At my age, I should just be grateful for what I have instead of asking for more. Wanting wealth is greedy."
How it sounds in your head: You feel guilty even reading this. The voice says at 76, you should be content, not asking for increase. Wanting more feels selfish when you have 'enough' to survive. Gratitude means settling.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religion weaponizing contentment as resignation, making desire for increase equal to greed.
You've been taught 'godliness with contentment is great gain' and heard sermons against materialism. At your age, wanting more feels ungrateful, especially when others have less.
Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine—not a little, but 180 GALLONS of the FINEST quality—at a party that already had wine. It wasn't needed; it was LAVISH. God's nature is extravagant abundance, not bare minimum survival.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting increase is greedy. IT IS WRITTEN that God is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. My Father DELIGHTS in prospering me. Jesus made 180 gallons of FINEST wine when less would have sufficed—God's nature is LAVISH, not minimal. Contentment isn't settling; it's peace while RECEIVING. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the blessing of Abraham—and Abraham was EXTREMELY RICH, not barely surviving. My age doesn't disqualify my desires—God's generosity has no expiration date. I receive ABUNDANCE without guilt. My Father is the God of MORE THAN ENOUGH, and I am His DAUGHTER.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to stop wanting so He can reward your resignation. He's loading the truck with abundance while you're still apologizing for desiring it, because generous giving is His JOY, not your reward.
