"People with strong faith don't question God like I do."
How it sounds in your head: I have so many questions about why God allows things, why prayers go unanswered, why bad things happen. Strong Christians just trust. My constant questioning proves I'm spiritually immature and my faith is shallow.
"O Lord, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? Even cry out to You, 'Violence!' and You will not save. Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to see trouble?"
-- Habakkuk 1:2-3Source: Religious culture that equates questions with rebellion and demands blind acceptance as maturity.
Every time you voice a 'why' question, someone quotes 'lean not on your own understanding' like you're sinning by thinking. The people who seem 'mature' just nod and say 'God's ways are higher' while you're internally wrestling.
Job questioned God INTENSELY, demanded answers, accused God of wrongdoing, and challenged Him to explain Himself. God's response? Didn't rebuke his questions - engaged him, spoke to him directly, and at the end called Job righteous while rebuking his friends who defended God with religious clichés.
I REFUSE the lie that questions disqualify me from strong faith. IT IS WRITTEN that prophets questioned God and He ENGAGED them, not condemned them. My questions are evidence of a REAL relationship, not a shallow one. Blind acceptance isn't maturity - wrestling IS. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for those in Christ, and that includes condemnation over honest questions. I am the righteousness of God in Christ whether I have all the answers or none of them. The Father doesn't demand I shut my brain off - He invites me to bring my questions TO Him, not hide them FROM Him.
The Father isn't threatened by your questions - He's HONORED that you bring them to Him instead of walking away. Like Job, who questioned intensely yet was called righteous, your wrestling is part of relationship, not evidence of its absence.
