"People will always see my disability before they see me"
How it sounds in your head: When you meet someone new, their eyes go to your wheelchair, your braces, your crutches first. You wonder if anyone will ever see YOU—the girl who loves art, has big dreams, tells funny jokes. Or will you always just be 'the disabled girl'?
"The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7Enemy using others' ignorance to define your identity instead of Father's declaration
You've experienced stares, pity, awkward questions your whole life. People talk to your parents about you instead of to you. The visible difference becomes the only thing people notice.
Known only as 'blind Bartimaeus'—his disability was his identity to everyone. Jesus called him, and IMMEDIATELY he received his sight. Then he's just called Bartimaeus—identity restored, no longer defined by limitation.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm defined by what people see first. IT IS WRITTEN that God looks at the heart, not outward appearance. My identity is not 'disabled girl'—my identity is DAUGHTER OF THE KING. I am chosen, royal, holy, beloved. People's limited vision doesn't limit God's PERFECT vision of who I am. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 43:4 that I am precious and honored in His sight. I receive the BARAK blessing that makes me highly favored—not pitied, but FAVORED. I am blessed coming and going, the head not the tail. The same God who saw a king in a shepherd boy sees GREATNESS in me.
Father bursts with pride when He thinks of you. He doesn't see limitation—He sees His BELOVED daughter, fearfully and wonderfully made, equipped for EVERYTHING He's dreamed for you. He's not waiting for you to be different. He's celebrating you RIGHT NOW.
