"People only want me when I'm useful to them."
How it sounds in your head: They only text when they need homework answers. Only invited you because they needed a ride. Your 'friends' disappear when you stop being convenient. You're not actually wanted—you're just useful. The second you stop providing, they'll vanish like everyone else.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Enemy whisper of conditional love, projecting human transactions onto the Father's unconditional covenant.
The pattern is clear—friends who only reach out when they need something, relationships that evaporate when you stop performing or providing.
Zacchaeus was a despised tax collector who betrayed his own people for money—universally hated. Jesus saw him in the tree and invited HIMSELF to Zacchaeus's house before any repentance, change, or usefulness. Jesus wanted his COMPANY, not his contribution.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm only wanted when I'm useful. IT IS WRITTEN that God loved me while I was still a sinner—before I could offer Him anything. People using me reveals THEIR character, not my value. I am Abraham's seed under the barak blessing, chosen by covenant not contribution. Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaeus's house before any change—He wanted RELATIONSHIP. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I declare I am WANTED for who I am, not what I do. The Father is bringing people who love me in my mess, not just my usefulness.
Your Father doesn't keep a ledger of what you've done for Him lately. He's the one who saw you in the tree of your own hiding and said 'I'm coming to YOUR house today'—not because you earned it, but because He wants YOU, in all your messy, unproductive, beautifully human glory.
