"People have said hurtful things about how I look or act, so that must be who I really am."
How it sounds in your head: Kids said I'm ugly, annoying, weird, too loud, too quiet, too much, not enough. They made fun of my body, my clothes, my voice, the way I laugh. When enough people say the same thing, it starts to feel true. Maybe I really am all those things they say. Maybe that's just who I am and I can't change it.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Enemy using agreement with lies to create false identity, rejecting the truth that only GOD'S words define us.
Repeated negative words from peers feel like evidence, especially during the vulnerable pre-teen years when identity is forming. She's hearing the same criticisms multiple times, which makes them feel like facts instead of opinions.
Scripture literally says Leah had 'weak eyes' (not beautiful like Rachel), and her own husband didn't love her. Everyone knew she was the 'ugly sister,' the unwanted wife. But God LOVED Leah, opened her womb, and made her the mother of JUDAH—the tribe Jesus came from. People's opinions didn't determine her worth or destiny.
I REFUSE the lie that people's words define me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made—MARVELOUS are God's works. I am not ugly, annoying, or too much. I am PERFECTLY designed by a God who makes no mistakes. Their words are LIES from the enemy's mouth. GOD'S words are TRUTH, and He says I am BEAUTIFUL, BELOVED, and exactly who He created me to be. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the HEAD and not the TAIL, blessed coming in and going out. The BARAK blessing means favor covers me even when people criticize me. I agree with GOD'S opinion, not theirs. His voice is the ONLY voice that matters.
Your Father didn't wait for you to become 'enough' before He called you wonderful—He called you MARVELOUS while you were still being formed in the womb. When He looks at you, He doesn't see what the bullies see. He sees His MASTERPIECE, and He's running toward you to silence every lie with His truth: 'You are MINE, and you are BEAUTIFUL.'
