"Pain is just part of aging—I need to accept it gracefully and stop complaining."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone my age hurts. This is normal. I shouldn't expect to feel good at 85. It's vain to want a pain-free body at my stage of life. I should be grateful I'm still alive and stop whining about discomfort.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Cultural narratives about aging combined with stoic religion that spiritualizes suffering and calls complaint sinful.
Peer comparison shows everyone in the assisted living facility is in pain. Media portrays elderly suffering as normal. Church culture prizes 'not complaining,' making requests for healing seem like ingratitude or vanity.
At 85 years old, Caleb declared, 'I am as strong THIS DAY as on the day Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength.' No decline. No accepting pain. He demanded his mountain and took it by force. God honored aggressive faith in an elderly warrior.
I REFUSE the lie that pain is normal for my age. IT IS WRITTEN that God wishes above all things that I prosper and be in HEALTH. That's not conditional on my age. That's His WILL for me today, tomorrow, and every day I have breath. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 34:7 that Moses at 120 had eyes undimmed and vigor unabated—that's God's idea of aging well, and I am under a BETTER COVENANT. I am not complaining when I ask for healing—I'm AGREEING with heaven. The BARAK blessing includes health in old age. Like Caleb, I declare: I am as strong TODAY as I was in my youth, because God RENEWS my strength. Pain, YOU ARE EVICTED in Jesus' Name.
The Father isn't asking you to 'accept pain gracefully'—He's inviting you to receive STRENGTH supernaturally. While culture says 'this is just aging,' He says 'I have BETTER plans for your final years than suffering—trust Me for VITALITY.'
