"Other women my age have cleaner pasts and are more qualified for God's work"
How it sounds in your head: Look at her—she stayed in ministry, kept her marriage together, raised kids who love Jesus. You've got divorce, prodigal children, years away from church. She's qualified. You're the cautionary tale. Stay in the background where you belong.
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
-- Galatians 3:28Comparison culture amplified by religion's hierarchy of respectability that measures worth by external achievements instead of covenant position.
Social media and church culture constantly showcase the women with clean stories. When you're in a demographic that values legacy, seeing others with prettier histories feels like proof you're second-tier and less useful.
Tamar disguised herself as a prostitute and seduced her father-in-law Judah. Scandalous, messy, complicated—yet God put her in JESUS' GENEALOGY. Her story is in the Messianic line while 'cleaner' women aren't even named.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm less qualified than women with cleaner pasts. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is no hierarchy—we are ALL one in Him. Her clean story doesn't make her closer to God. My messy one doesn't make me further. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing isn't based on behavior—it protected liars, deceivers, and adulterers. I am righteous by HIS blood, qualified by HIS choice, and anointed for THIS season regardless of my past seasons.
The Father isn't comparing you to her. He's running toward YOU with the robe that says 'daughter,' not 'daughter with asterisks.' He chose messy Tamar for Jesus' bloodline and He's choosing messy you for His current purposes.
