"Other men have natural authority; I'm just mimicking what I've seen in real leaders."
How it sounds in your head: Some guys walk into a room and command respect naturally. I'm copying their mannerisms, their tone, their presence, but it's not authentic. I'm playing a part, and it feels hollow.
"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
-- Luke 10:19Comparison lie that measures your internal reality against others' external appearance, combined with enemy theft of your God-given authority.
You see men who seem effortlessly authoritative while you feel like you're acting. Every leadership moment feels rehearsed rather than natural, and you fear people sense the difference.
Joshua had to follow MOSES—the greatest leader Israel ever had. God told him three times 'Be strong and courageous' because Joshua felt inadequate. But God said 'As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.' Joshua's authority came from GOD'S PRESENCE, not his natural ability.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm mimicking authority I don't possess. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus GIVES me authority over all the power of the enemy—it's delegated, not developed. My authority doesn't come from my personality or natural presence; it comes from my POSITION as a son and co-heir with Christ. IT IS WRITTEN that all authority in heaven and earth belongs to Jesus, and He sent ME with that authority. I am walking in the BARAK BLESSING where I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. Like Joshua who followed Moses, my authority comes from GOD'S PRESENCE with me, not from comparing myself to other men. I am not an imposter; I am COMMISSIONED.
The Father doesn't give authority based on natural charisma—He gives it based on SONSHIP. Like the prodigal who got the ring of authority before proving himself, you carry God's authority because of WHO YOU ARE TO HIM, not because of how you compare to others.
