"Nice things are for other people; I should be content with just getting by."
How it sounds in your head: That's for guys who have their stuff together. The successful ones. You're still figuring it out, still inconsistent, still failing in areas you won't talk about. Nice things are rewards for people who've earned them. You haven't.
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."
-- Psalm 84:11Religious poverty mindset that mistakes lack for humility and equates struggle with spiritual maturity.
You see successful people and assume they deserve it more because they seem more put-together. Your inconsistencies feel like disqualifications from good things.
Isaac reaped a hundredfold in the same year during a famine and became very wealthy with flocks, herds, and servants. This happened AFTER he lied about his wife—the blessing wasn't based on his behavior but on covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that nice things are for others and I should just get by. IT IS WRITTEN that no good thing will my Father withhold from me. I am the righteousness of God in Christ—not because I earned it, but because He gave it. IT IS WRITTEN that He who gave His own Son will freely give me all things. I carry the BARAK blessing that made Isaac wealthy even during famine. Nice things aren't rewards—they're covenant rights. The prodigal got the ring, robe, and sandals before he cleaned up. I receive NOW.
While you're convincing yourself you don't deserve nice things, your Father is preparing the best robe, the family ring, and the fattened calf. He gives based on His nature, not your performance.
