"Natural conception isn't happening—IVF or adoption are my only options and they're not God's best."
How it sounds in your head: We've tried everything naturally and nothing works. The doctor recommends IVF, but I've heard Christians say that's 'not trusting God' or messing with His design. Maybe adoption is Plan B, but it feels like admitting defeat—like our biological child isn't coming. Are we giving up on a miracle if we pursue medical intervention? Is adoption settling for less than God's promise?
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religion: Creating false hierarchy of 'God's best' that makes medical help or adoption feel like faithlessness.
Natural conception feels like the 'faith' option, so exploring alternatives feels like giving up. Religious teaching implies that true faith means refusing medical intervention and waiting for a miracle.
Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter after being placed in a basket by his biological mother. This 'Plan B' was actually God's perfect plan to position Moses to deliver Israel from Egypt.
I REFUSE the lie that IVF or adoption are Plan B or less than God's best. IT IS WRITTEN: 'EVERY good gift and EVERY perfect gift is from above' (James 1:17). My children are coming—whether through natural conception, medical intervention, or adoption—ALL are gifts from the Father. God doesn't rank how children arrive. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty' (2 Corinthians 6:18)—God Himself operates through adoption. There is no shame in medical help or in grafting a child into our family the way God grafted me into His. I receive every avenue God opens as His perfect provision.
The Father isn't disappointed if you need medical help or choose adoption—He's been preparing your child regardless of the path. While you're wondering if you failed to believe hard enough, He's orchestrating the exact way your son or daughter will arrive, and every path leads to His joy.
