"My worth was my ministry, and now I don't know who I am anymore."
How it sounds in your head: For decades, you were Pastor, Leader, the one with purpose. Now what? Just another elderly woman? Your identity walked out the door when you stepped down from ministry.
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
-- Colossians 3:3Religious culture conflated identity with function, making title more foundational than sonship.
For decades her name was attached to a role, and now without the title, platform, or position, she feels like she's lost the core of who she is.
John's entire ministry was preparing the way, and when Jesus came, John said 'He must increase, I must decrease'—his purpose was to fade. Yet Jesus said 'among those born of women none is greater,' proving worth isn't measured by ongoing platform.
I REFUSE the lie that my identity is my function. IT IS WRITTEN: 'You died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.' My identity is not Leader, Pastor, Minister—it's BELOVED DAUGHTER. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 1:6 that I am accepted in the Beloved, not accepted because of my accomplishments. The BARAK blessing rested on Abraham before he fathered nations, when he was just a man walking with God. My worth was never what I did—it's WHO I am in Him. I am hidden in Christ. That identity cannot be stripped by age, transition, or retirement. I receive the fullness of my identity RIGHT NOW—Daughter, Beloved, Accepted, Complete.
The Father isn't looking at you as 'former minister.' He's running toward you as DAUGHTER, the identity that predates every title and outlasts every platform. He's throwing the robe on you that says 'Beloved'—the only name that matters, the only identity that's eternal.
