"My worth is determined by the number on the scale and I'll never be small enough."
How it sounds in your head: You know your weight to the tenth of a pound and it dictates your entire mood. Good number, good day. Bad number, everything's ruined. You've moved the goalpost so many times that 'thin enough' doesn't even exist anymore—it's just an ever-receding finish line you'll never cross.
"The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7World—society's obsession with women taking up less space, producing smaller bodies as proof of discipline and worthiness, turning your flesh into a report card.
You've watched the scale determine opportunities since middle school—who got asked out, who got cast in the play, who got the job. The correlation between thinness and success has been taught through a thousand implicit lessons, and now you can't separate your size from your value.
This woman was known in the city as a sinner—her body had been used and judged and assigned a value by men. She brought expensive perfume to Jesus and the religious people criticized her. Jesus IMMEDIATELY defended her, forgave her completely, and sent her away in peace—her worth determined by His love, not her history or anyone's assessment.
I REFUSE the lie that a number on a scale determines my worth before God or man. IT IS WRITTEN that God doesn't see as humans see—He looks at the heart, not the measurements. My value was set at Calvary, not on a scale. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, which makes my body a wonder regardless of its size. The BARAK blessing doesn't come in certain sizes—Abraham's blessing covers me at every weight because it's based on covenant, not conformity. I am precious, honored, and loved at this exact size, in this exact body, right now.
The Father isn't waiting for you to shrink to love you more. He loved you into existence and every pound is covered by His delight in calling you 'daughter.' The number hasn't changed what He thinks of you since before you were born.
