"My worth and identity are measured by the success of my ministry."
How it sounds in your head: When attendance is up, you're valuable. When offerings drop, you're failing. Your kids watch you define yourself by Sunday's response. You check metrics like a stock portfolio. Good sermon? You matter. Flat response? You're questioning your calling.
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory."
-- Colossians 3:3-4The world's performance economy infiltrated the church, turning shepherds into CEOs and souls into metrics.
Every leadership conference measures success by numbers—buildings, baptisms, budgets. Your peers compare growth rates. Your denomination tracks your statistics. The scoreboard is public and your identity is tied to it.
Jeremiah preached forty years with zero positive response—rejected, imprisoned, thrown in a well. God's assessment? 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you.' His identity was set before his ministry existed.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth is measured by ministry metrics. IT IS WRITTEN that my life is hidden with Christ in God—my identity was settled before I preached a single sermon. I am not defined by attendance, offerings, or responses. I am a SON, chosen before the foundation of the world. IT IS WRITTEN that before I was formed in the womb, He knew me and set me apart. I declare the BARAK blessing over my calling—I am the HEAD and not the TAIL, blessed in the city and the field, and my value comes from His covenant, not my results. The Father doesn't measure me by numbers; He delights in me as His beloved son.
The Father sees you striving for validation through results and is running toward you with the same words He spoke over Jesus before He performed a single miracle: 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' Your identity was finished at the cross, not tied to last Sunday's attendance.
