"My stretch marks and scars mean my body is ruined and ugly."
How it sounds in your head: These marks on my thighs and stomach are hideous. I can't wear a swimsuit. My body is damaged goods. I'll never look clean and perfect like other girls. I'm marked and ruined.
"Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you."
-- Isaiah 43:4Perfectionism culture that treats natural body changes as defects, powered by spirits of shame.
Stretch marks ARE visible. They DON'T match the airbrushed images online. No one talks about them as normal - they're always something to 'get rid of' in ads.
Jesus rose from the dead and could have had a perfect, scar-free resurrection body. Instead, He KEPT the scars - the nail marks in His hands, the wound in His side - as PROOF of His love. Thomas touched the scars and worshiped.
I REFUSE the lie that stretch marks and scars make my body ruined. IT IS WRITTEN that I am PRECIOUS in His sight - not perfect, PRECIOUS. Jesus rose with scars and called them PROOF of love, not evidence of damage. IT IS WRITTEN that He has inscribed me on the palms of His hands. My body tells a story of growth, survival, and LIFE. These marks are not flaws - they're evidence that I'm ALIVE. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marks and all.
Right now, your Father is tracing those stretch marks with His finger and whispering, 'These are beautiful. They mean you're growing. I don't love perfect bodies - I love YOU, every inch, every mark, every story written on your skin.'
