Too Much
"My spiritual questions and doubts are too intense—I'm supposed to have this figured out by now."

How it sounds in your head: You've been a Christian for decades. You should have unshakeable faith by now. Instead you're lying here with questions about heaven, about suffering, about why God let certain things happen. Your doubts feel too big, too late. Surely by 90+ you should have rock-solid theology.

Jude 1:22

"And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire."

-- Jude 1:22
Enemy whispers: Your questions prove you never really believed, you're too unstable. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Jude 1:22 - 'On some have compassion, making a distinction'—even the BIBLE acknowledges different people have different levels of certainty, and God's response is COMPASSION, not condemnation. Thomas doubted after seeing Jesus multiple times—Jesus showed up AGAIN just for him. Your questions don't disqualify you. God's big enough for every doubt, every middle-of-the-night fear, every 'what if' that keeps you awake.
Quick Truth: LIE: Too many doubts by now. TRUTH: God has compassion on those who doubt—questions don't disqualify. (Jude 1:22)

Religious expectation that mature faith equals no questions, that doubt is failure, that decades of belief should produce certainty rather than deeper mystery.

Why this feels true:

You've attended church for 70+ years. You've read the Bible multiple times. You feel like you should have graduated beyond questions. Instead, facing death has brought up doubts you thought you'd settled. It feels like you're failing some final exam of faith.

Matthew 11:2-6
John the Baptist

John baptized Jesus, heard God's voice from heaven, KNEW Jesus was Messiah—yet from prison sent messengers asking 'Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?' Jesus didn't rebuke his doubt—He sent evidence and called John the GREATEST born of women.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my questions disqualify me. IT IS WRITTEN that God has compassion on those who doubt, making distinction for where we each are. John the Baptist doubted AFTER hearing God's voice—Jesus called him the greatest. Thomas doubted AFTER seeing miracles—Jesus appeared just for him. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation in Christ, which covers every question, every uncertainty, every 3am fear. I am not graded on certainty—I'm saved by GRACE, covered by BLOOD, secured by FINISHED WORK. My questions don't change His answers. I am His, doubts and all.

But God actually:

The Father isn't disappointed by your questions—He's leaning in, ready to answer, holding you in the mystery. He doesn't need your certainty—He IS your certainty. Your wondering doesn't make you less His; if anything, it makes you more honest, and He loves honest children.
