"My sleeplessness is punishment for a lifetime of failures."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I'm reaping what I sowed. All the mistakes, the sins I never confessed, the people I hurt—maybe God is settling accounts. I can't sleep because I don't deserve peace. This is what I earned after 90 years of falling short.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion: karma theology, reaping-and-sowing as punishment, God as scorekeeper waiting to settle debts, works-based acceptance.
She remembers every failure, every regret, and religion taught that consequences always come. Sleeplessness feels like cosmic justice, punishment for a life that never measured up. The timing seems deliberate—judgment at the end.
The thief lived a life of crime, was DYING as punishment, had no time for restitution or good works. Jesus said, 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant forgiveness for a lifetime of failure with zero payment required. Grace in the final moment.
I REFUSE the lie that sleeplessness is punishment for failures. IT IS WRITTEN that His compassions are new EVERY MORNING—including this one. Jesus took ALL punishment at the cross; there's nothing left for me to pay. I don't reap judgment; I reap the blessing of Abraham by covenant. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. NONE. My sleep isn't earned by perfect living; it's given by perfect LOVE. I receive mercy-rest RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't counting your failures—He's running toward you with the robe, the ring, the party. Every sin you remember, He forgot at the cross. He's not settling accounts; He's singing over you, 'My daughter is HOME, and we CELEBRATE.' Peace isn't earned; it's GIVEN, and He's giving it NOW.
