"My purpose died when I could no longer serve and contribute like I used to."
How it sounds in your head: I used to teach Sunday school, host dinners, volunteer, care for grandchildren. Now I can barely care for myself. What use am I to the kingdom if I can't do anything productive anymore?
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5Religion's lie that worth equals works, making identity dependent on productivity rather than position in Christ.
Physical limitations prevent previous service activities. Energy decreases. Roles that defined identity for decades are no longer accessible. Feeling useless while watching others serve.
Simeon waited years, aged beyond active ministry, couldn't travel or preach anymore—yet the Holy Spirit brought the INFANT MESSIAH directly to him. His greatest moment of purpose came when he could only hold a baby and prophesy, not when he was strong and active.
I REFUSE the lie that purpose requires productivity! IT IS WRITTEN that I am a branch, and my only job is ABIDING—fruit comes from CONNECTION, not effort. My prayers from this bed carry as much power as any sermon I preached. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous flourish like a palm tree and STILL bear fruit in old age. I am Abraham's seed, covered by the BARAK blessing—my BEING is blessed, not just my doing. God's purpose for me is not past tense!
The Father who delighted in you before you could walk or talk delights in you now, not for what you accomplish but for who you ARE. Your prayers move heaven. Your presence carries His presence. Your worship in limitation may be the purest offering you've ever given.
