"My prayers aren't working because I don't have enough faith or believe correctly."
How it sounds in your head: If I just had more faith, this would change. Maybe I'm praying with doubt, or not visualizing the answer clearly enough, or not 'claiming' it the right way. Everyone says faith moves mountains, so if my mountain isn't moving, I must not have enough faith.
"For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar."
-- Romans 3:3-4Word-of-faith distortion that makes faith a WORK you produce instead of a GIFT you receive, turning 'faith in God' into 'faith in your faith.'
When you read 'according to your faith be it unto you,' it feels like a formula where insufficient faith equals no results. If someone got healed and you didn't, the obvious difference feels like THEIR faith was better, making you obsess over 'believing harder.'
Thomas REFUSED to believe Jesus rose unless he saw and touched the wounds—literal doubt and unbelief. Jesus didn't rebuke him or withhold Himself; He showed up, invited Thomas to touch His wounds, and gave him the encounter he needed, meeting him in his unbelief without condemnation.
I REFUSE the lie that God's promises depend on my faith performance. IT IS WRITTEN that even if I don't believe, God's faithfulness doesn't fail—His Word stands whether my faith is strong or shaky. I am not saved by faith IN my faith; I'm saved by faith in JESUS, and even that faith is a GIFT, not something I manufacture. IT IS WRITTEN that faith the size of a mustard seed moves mountains—it's not about quantity but about OBJECT. My tiny, doubt-filled faith in a BIG God beats huge faith in my own believing. Jesus healed the man who said, 'I believe; help my unbelief'—that's permission to bring my doubts to Him instead of hiding them. The BARAK blessing didn't require Abraham's faith to be perfect; it covered him when he lied out of FEAR, proving covenant is stronger than my faith fluctuations.
Your Father doesn't measure your faith on a scale before deciding to answer—He sees your reach toward Him, however shaky, and meets you there with MORE than you asked. The prodigal's father didn't ask, 'Do you believe enough in my love?' He RAN while the son was still rehearsing his speech, still doubting his father's response.
