"My personality is too broken, intense, or different for anyone to truly want to know me deeply."
How it sounds in your head: People tolerate you in surface relationships, but if they really knew you—the darkness, the struggles, the weird ways you think—they'd run. You're fundamentally too much or not enough. Better to keep the mask on.
"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:13-14Source: Trauma from past rejection + enemy's identity lies + religion's 'clean up to be accepted' message.
Past attempts at vulnerability ended in rejection or misunderstanding. He's watched people distance themselves when he revealed too much. The parts of himself he's shared have been judged, so he's learned to edit himself into acceptable fragments.
John wore camel hair, ate locusts, lived in the wilderness, and screamed at religious leaders calling them snakes. Socially awkward by every standard—yet Jesus said he was the GREATEST man born of women, and crowds came into the desert just to hear him.
I REFUSE the lie that my personality disqualifies me from deep connection. IT IS WRITTEN that I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made—not mass-produced but custom-designed by God. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing covered LIARS, DECEIVERS, and MURDERERS—my quirks don't disqualify me. IT IS WRITTEN that John the Baptist was socially bizarre yet called the greatest man born. I declare that God is bringing people who can handle the REAL me, not the edited version. The Father is running toward me with acceptance, not tolerance.
The Father isn't waiting for you to become more palatable—He's running toward the real you, camel hair and all. He's positioning people in your life who will celebrate your intensity, not require you to dim it. The connection isn't conditional on your performance of normalcy.
