"Nobody really knows me, and if they did, they'd leave like everyone else."
How it sounds in your head: You've got the fake laugh down perfectly, the surface answers ready. But the real you? The stuff you actually think about at 2am? Nobody can handle that. You're too much or not enough, and either way, alone is safer.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
-- Jeremiah 1:5Trauma-based lie from past rejection or abandonment, convincing you that your true self is unacceptable and must stay hidden.
You've tried being real before and it backfired—people used it against you, or got weird, or just drifted away. At this age, vulnerability feels like handing someone ammunition, so you've learned to keep everyone at surface level where it's safe but lonely.
Nathanael was skeptical and sarcastic, hiding under a fig tree with his doubts and cynicism. Jesus saw him there, called out what was in his heart, and Nathanael INSTANTLY went from skeptic to 'You are the Son of God' in one encounter.
I REFUSE the lie that the real me is too much or too broken to be known. IT IS WRITTEN that before I was formed, God KNEW me—every part I'm hiding, every thought I'm afraid to share—and He calls me SANCTIFIED. I am NOT too much for love, NOT too broken for connection, NOT destined to hide. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:1 that He has searched me and known me—FULLY known and FULLY loved. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed in authentic relationships where I can be known and still chosen. I receive divine connections with people who can handle the real me because the Father already assigned them.
While you're convinced you need to hide, the Father is whispering 'I KNOW you—all of you—and I'm not leaving.' He's preparing people who will see your weirdness and call it wonderful, your depth and call it refreshing, because He's setting the table for authentic connection you don't have to perform for.
