"My past mistakes disqualify me from God's best plan for my future"
How it sounds in your head: Every time I think about my calling, I remember what I did freshman year. How can God use someone who made those choices? I see girls who stayed pure leading worship while I'm sitting in the back row hiding.
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:18-19Source: Religious shame teaching that God's plans are reserved for the 'good ones' who didn't mess up early.
She sees friends who made 'better' choices getting opportunities while her past feels like a permanent stain on her transcript. Every mistake feels like it knocked her down a tier in God's hierarchy.
Rahab was an active prostitute when God chose her for the rescue mission. She went from brothel to the MESSIANIC LINE—great-great-grandmother of King David, named in Jesus' genealogy—without a redemption process or waiting period.
I REFUSE the lie that my past disqualifies me from God's best. IT IS WRITTEN that God does a NEW thing NOW—not after I've proven myself. My past is not my identity; Christ IN me is my identity. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that OLD things passed away and ALL things became new. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and the BARAK blessing over Abraham's seed flows through me regardless of my history. God wrote Rahab the prostitute into the Messianic line—my past is no obstacle to His plans.
While you're rehearsing your disqualifications, the Father is rehearsing your destiny. He chose you KNOWING every mistake you'd make, and His plans didn't budge an inch—they've been waiting for you to believe they're still yours.
