"My parents' bad financial decisions mean I'll suffer the consequences forever."
How it sounds in your head: They made dumb choices with credit cards and loans. Now we're paying for it and I'm watching. Guess I'm stuck with their mess on my shoulders. Their mistakes are my future.
"Yet you say, 'Why should the son not bear the guilt of the father?' Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son."
-- Ezekiel 18:19-20Source: Generational trauma lie that children are cursed by parents' decisions, contrary to new covenant reality.
He sees the repo man, the collection calls, the stress. The consequences feel inescapable and transferable.
He owed 10,000 talents - equivalent to BILLIONS of dollars, literally impossible to repay in multiple lifetimes. One moment of mercy from the king and the ENTIRE DEBT was forgiven - no payment plan, no consequences, instant freedom.
I REFUSE the lie that my parents' financial mistakes define my future. IT IS WRITTEN that the son shall NOT bear the guilt of the father - their debt is not my destiny. I am a NEW creation in Christ; old things have passed away. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse - that includes generational financial curses. The blessing of Abraham is on me by covenant, not by my parents' credit score. The 10,000 talent debt was forgiven instantly. I am free from generational patterns, blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail. My future is determined by covenant, not by their mistakes.
Father isn't holding you responsible for your parents' choices. He's running toward you with a clean slate, a fresh start, and the ring of authority, completely disregarding their credit history because YOU are His son and the covenant blessing is based on HIS faithfulness, not their financial literacy.
