"My outdated knowledge and skills make me a burden, not a blessing."
How it sounds in your head: I don't understand technology. I can't help with the things people need now. I ask for help more than I give it. I'm becoming the needy one instead of the helpful one.
"No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:22Cultural lie that only current technical skills have value, dismissing wisdom, character, and spiritual gifts that transcend generations.
She struggles with smartphones and computers. Needs help with tasks younger people do easily. Feels like she's asking more than contributing. Technology dominates modern work.
At 80 years old, Barzillai couldn't hear well, couldn't taste food, and declined the king's invitation saying 'I'm too old to be useful.' But King David INSISTED on honoring him because Barzillai had provided for David when he was fleeing Absalom. David knew: those who seem weak are NECESSARY and worthy of permanent honor.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden! IT IS WRITTEN: 'Those members which SEEM weaker are NECESSARY!' My value isn't measured by tech skills but by the irreplaceable gifts I carry—wisdom, intercession, discernment, faithful presence. Like Barzillai whom the king INSISTED on honoring despite his age, I am NECESSARY to the body of Christ. The BARAK blessing doesn't require me to do everything myself—it ATTRACTS provision and help as needed. IT IS WRITTEN: 'We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.' My 'outdated' vessel carries TIMELESS treasure! I bless with prayer when I can't bless with programming. I give wisdom when I can't give tech support. I am NECESSARY!
The Father isn't measuring your worth by what you produce but delighting in WHO YOU ARE as His beloved daughter. Like the prodigal's father who valued the SON over any service he could provide, God treasures your PRESENCE, not your performance or productivity.
