"I'm behind where I should be spiritually—other Christian girls seem so much more mature."
How it sounds in your head: She memorizes whole chapters and leads worship. She hears God so clearly. I feel like a baby Christian even though I've believed for years. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or God loves her more.
"But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."
-- Galatians 6:4Source: Enemy's comparison trap designed to create spiritual performance anxiety and hide the truth of individual calling and pace.
She watches other girls her age who seem so confident in their faith, while she still struggles with basics. She feels like she's failing some invisible spiritual checklist everyone else passed.
John's disciples got jealous because Jesus' ministry was growing bigger than John's and people were leaving to follow Jesus instead. John's response was instant peace: 'A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. He must increase, but I must decrease.' John understood his unique assignment and didn't compete. He celebrated Jesus instead of comparing, and stayed in perfect joy.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm behind spiritually or that God compares me to anyone else. IT IS WRITTEN that I examine my own work and rejoice in myself alone, not in comparison to another. My relationship with the Father is uniquely mine, and His love for me is not measured by someone else's gifting. IT IS WRITTEN that each has received a gift and should use it to serve others. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing of favor flows to me according to MY calling, not hers. The Father delights in my specific journey, and I walk in confidence knowing I am exactly where I need to be—IN CHRIST, complete and fully loved.
The Father isn't comparing you to anyone—He's running toward you with arms full of gifts specifically designed for YOUR calling, not hers. He sees you as His unique masterpiece, irreplaceable and perfectly positioned, and He's whispering, 'Stop looking at her journey; I have adventures planned for you that no one else can walk.'
