"My need for company and conversation is needy and pathetic"
How it sounds in your head: You light up when anyone visits and feel crushed when they leave. You call your kids too often. You talk the ear off anyone who'll listen. You're becoming the lonely old woman who clings too tightly.
"And the Lord God said, 'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.'"
-- Genesis 2:18Self-sufficiency curse - the lie that needing people reveals weakness instead of the design for community God created
You count the days between visits. You strategize when to call so you don't seem desperate. You see yourself reaching out more than others reach back, and you remember being the busy one, not the waiting one.
After his greatest victory, Elijah crashed into depression and isolation, saying 'I alone am left.' God didn't rebuke him for neediness - He sent an angel to feed him, let him sleep, then revealed 7,000 others who stood with him. God met Elijah's need for connection supernaturally and immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that my need for connection is weakness. IT IS WRITTEN: It is not good for man to be alone - this is GOD'S DESIGN from Eden. My desire for conversation and company reflects the image of my relational God. IT IS WRITTEN: A friend loves at all times. I am not needy; I am DESIGNED for communion. The BARAK blessing includes community, and I boldly ask for and receive the connection I need without shame. People are BLESSED by my presence.
Your Father never tires of your voice, never checks His watch when you're talking, never wishes you'd call less. He's whispering to hearts right now, 'Go visit her - she's lonely,' because He's coordinating your connection.
