"My naturally independent and self-sufficient personality means I'm unteachable, stubborn, and resistant to God"
How it sounds in your head: I figure things out myself, research before asking, prefer to try first before seeking help. But Christians are supposed to be interdependent, submitted, humble enough to constantly need others. Maybe my independence is just rebellion disguised as competence, pride that keeps me from true community.
"She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms."
-- Proverbs 31:17Religious codependency labeled as community, world that punishes female autonomy, trauma from being controlled through 'submission' teaching.
When every message about biblical womanhood emphasizes dependence and seeking covering, your natural competence feels like pride. Being told you need to submit more or be more teachable when you're actually just capable makes independence feel like sin.
She selects her own materials, works with her own hands, evaluates her own business decisions, manages her own household, teaches wisdom from her own mouth—all without asking permission or seeking constant validation. Her independence is praised as VIRTUE, not rebellion.
I REFUSE the lie that my independence is stubborn rebellion. IT IS WRITTEN that the virtuous woman strengthens her OWN arms—my self-sufficiency is STRENGTH, not pride. I am the BARAK blessing bringing competence and capability, teaching others to stand on their own feet through example. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 6:5 that each bears their own load—independence is BIBLICAL MATURITY, not relational failure. I don't need to be needier—I need to be MORE confident in the strength God gave me. The Father celebrates my capability because He made me STRONG, not fragile.
The Father is running toward you saying, 'I LOVE that you don't need constant hand-holding!' He made you independent not because you don't need Him, but because you learned to draw DIRECTLY from Him instead of through the approval of others—and that's the whole point.
