"My mind races all night and I can't turn it off anymore like I used to."
How it sounds in your head: You're lying there at 2 AM again, staring at the ceiling. Every financial worry, every health concern, every regret from forty years ago playing on repeat. Your wife's asleep but you're wired, exhausted, angry that your body won't cooperate anymore.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2Enemy assignment to steal rest that Christ purchased, amplified by cultural worship of productivity and masculine 'toughness' that never admits weakness.
The thoughts ARE racing and your body IS different than at 30. Decades of being the problem-solver means your brain won't stop analyzing, fixing, planning—even when there's nothing you can do at 3 AM.
Elijah was suicidal, depressed, running for his life, convinced he'd failed—mentally and emotionally wrecked. God's solution wasn't therapy or 'renew your mind' steps—an angel touched him and he fell into DEEP sleep, woke to supernatural food, then slept AGAIN.
I REFUSE the lie that my mind controls my rest. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives His beloved sleep, and I am His beloved—not by my performance but by His blood. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and rest is my COVENANT RIGHT. The same God who put Adam into deep sleep for surgery, who gave Elijah rest in his worst depression, who causes the psalmist to lie down in green pastures—that God commands rest over my body RIGHT NOW. IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 33:14, 'My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.' I receive supernatural sleep as Abraham's seed, heir according to promise.
Father sees you exhausted and isn't waiting for you to 'try harder'—He's already spoken REST over you before you even lay down. Like the prodigal's father had the robe ready before the son arrived, your Father has sleep prepared; you're just receiving what's already yours.
